A species that is completely arboreal, although its distribution area has little rainfall, the black tree monitor lizard needs to live in a high humidity environment, is timid and somewhat neurotic, and feeds on insects, reptiles, birds, and small mammals. Distributed in the Aru Islands west of Papua New Guinea. Residing in mangrove forests.
